First. Remove all the spark plugs. Drain all the oil. Turn the engine over by hand VERY SLOWLY. Squirt some oil down the spark plug holes. Light oil. (Marvel Mystery Oil) Turn the engine over again. Refill with fresh oil & new filter. Install new spark plugs. If the fuel system was not compromised FIRE THAT BABY UP!!!
Yes, even a small amount of water will damage any engine. Water is not a lubricant and as such it will cause damage when mixed with the oil. How much depends on how much water and how long you drove the car in this condition. Antifreeze is even worse than plain water.
