Always wash wool by hand lukewarm water using a mild soap. Begin with a soak -- three to five minutes for lightly soiled articles, longer for more soil. Squeeze out the soapy water by pressing the article against the bowl after draining out the soapy water. Never wring or scrunch wool to remove water: this agitates the fibres and causes them to shrink.
Rinse twice to remove the soap, taking care to push water through the article, again squeezing out excess water by pushing it against the drained bowl.
Roll the article in towels to remove excess water and air dry on a flat web, after pushing the article back into its basic shape.
