'Old Sport' is what Gatsby calls Nick. As with his entire lift, this is a facade designed to create an illusion from which Gatsby can present himself to the world.

This relates to the story Gatsby tells Nick in chapter 4 about his time in Europe, 'hunting big game'. This is evidently a lie, but is designed to create an aura of mystery around him.
