Lions get oxygen in the same way that all mammals do. They inhale through their nose or mouth. Air goes down the trachea into the bronchi and bronchioles of the lungs. Oxygen and carbon dioxide pass through the cell membranes of the alveoli. The lion exhales through its nose or mouth.

they exchange gases the same way we do; they take air into their lungs, and it fills the alveoli (which are covered in capillaries with oxygen-poor blood), and the carbon dioxide in the blood is exchanged with oxygen. these capillaries converge at the heart and are pumped throughout the body
