There are different types of tasters, so we are going to use the X-26 Taser for an example. Two small needle-like probes (but thicker than needles, and not as sharp) are shot out of a cartridge, and as the probes are shot out, the cartridge flaps open for the probes to shoot out. Very thin strings are attached to both probes, but each probe has a separate string. When the person is hit by the taser, the person pulls the trigger and an electric jolt is sent down the strings, and into the probes. However, the taser becomes a stun gun, also, so when the person is done using the taser, the person just flips off the cartridge, and there are two probe-like endings on two opposite ends of the edge of the taser, and an electric current is passed between them, creating a stun gun. The trigger triggers an ignition system that shoots the probes out of the cartridge.
A citizen Taser (Taser C2, X26c and M26c) can reach 15 feet.

The Taser C2 and Taser X26c are citizen Tasers. They can reach up to 15 feet. The closer the Taser is shot, the less distance there will be between the 2 probes. When aiming with the laser sight, it illuminates where the top probe will hit. The second probe will land under the top one.
