Communal and sectarian differences and frictions can destabilize a country. Perceived, or an actual lack of equality can affect due process and fair political representation. This raises the specter of minorities feeling unprotected if not alienated by national or regional majorities. Low level retaliatory violence can spiral into civil wars, ethnic cleansing, and international conflict. With the loss of stability goes the loss of investment confidence, commerce, and the exist of capital. All of these factors can destroy an economy of such frictions are not addressed and resolved.
