MRI, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, works by utilizing the molecules of water within an object. The MRI machine is able to manipulate the water molecules within an object in such a way that it creates a picture using the different amounts of water within different areas of an object.
In very simple terms, MRI uses an enormously powerful electromagnet to align all the unbound protons in your body with the poles of the magnet. The protons are then 'plucked' or 'struck', either by radio waves or other magnetic fields. After they're 'plucked', like a guitar string, they will emit energy as they return to their 'home' position. Specialized antennae inside the machine 'listen' for these energies and map them, in 3D, to create sophisticated images of the anatomy of the subject. Extremely powerful computers crunch the data from the millions of mapped signals and recreate images, either in 3D form, or in 'slices'.
MRI scanners have practically no adverse effects. MRI or magnetic resonance imaging works by noting difference of various images created by varying response of different body tissues.

If you want to get certified for MRI technician you can find open MRI technician certification at: http://education-portal.com/articles/MRI_Technician_Training_Certificate_and_Certification_Program_Options.html More info here: http://www.ehow.com/about_6619926_mri-tech-certification.html and here: http://www.innerbody.com/careers-in-health/guide-to-becoming-mri-tech.html
If the MRI technologist positions you with your leg going into the magnet (the MRI machine) then your head would be out of it. Call the facility where you are scheduled to have the MRI and ask to speak with the MRI technologist and they can fully explain to you exactly how you will be positioned.

No. It is not a treatment it is a scan. An MRI is a Magnetic Resonance Imaging. MRI are used for imaging tissues.
It sends of pictures of the brain to the dumb people at answers.com that let you answer your own question or it shows the activity in your brain....but that works too.
