White blood cells are coated with antibodies, these have specific binding sites that will bind to specific antigens. When the antigen binds to the antibody, this triggers the WBC to produce more of the same antigen in order to fight the specific infection.
The immune system is very unique. There are mucous producing areas in our respiratory system and they are nasal cavity, bronchioles, bronchus and the layrnx. They have mucous which filters out the debris we breathe in. They get trapped and sent up into the esophagus. The irritation of the esophagus causes us to cough. Bringing up all those dirty, nasty things.
Also we have a system of filters called the Lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is quite unique too. It has lymph veins/capilliaries and lymph nodes that help to clean and filter the interstitial fluids (excess fluid produced by tissue cells).
Lymph nodes create lymphocytes which are cells that go around killing any bacteria's or unwanted cells that are not needed in our body. Yes of course there are the white blood cells which also help with the immune system by killing and devouring unwated bacteria's by a process called phagocytosis.
And i hope this helps anyone. If not, i did my best to answer
One way the immune system fights diseases is by calling out white blood cells to kill the disease. another way that the immune system fights off diseases is by making your body temperature higher so that the heat can de-nature and kill that organism.

The immune system is extraordinarily complex and it would take far more room than is available here for an adequate explanation.
The immune system has so many different subdivisions like Humoral, Innate, Cell-Mediated, Acquired, Adaptive, etc, etc. Each with their own way of identifying and ridding the body of potential danger.
A very simplistic but inadequate explanation to your question would be:
Your immune system identifies a potential pathogen by the cell signals it gives off (antigen), then it sends signals (anti-bodies) to your appropriate immune cells to mobilize, then they trap, absorb and kill the invading bacteria or virus. The immune system uses virus protecting proteins to protect the body from disease.
by attacking the pathogen
Immune system protects the body from any type of foreign antigen or pathogen which can cause disease. It also protect from particles to cause disease in human body.
The immune system is the body's defense system against harmful of disease causing microorganisms. The immune system is made up of the lymphatic system, and white blood cells.

The function of the immune system is to protect your body from infection by pathogens and foreign invaders, or what the body perceives as invading "germs". Your immune system works to identify pathogens and sometimes other unrecognized cells, like tumor cells, that could cause disease and then to eliminate them from your system. Your body's immune system has an incredibly difficult task in this because some of these pathogens can be "sneaky": they can redesign (mutate) themselves to trick the immune system into misidentifying them as harmless cells rather than appropriately treating them as foreign invaders.

the immune system helps protect the body inside and outside using red blood cells and white blood cells it helps attack the diseases and defends your body from and any other thing that may be harmful
