When you slide the pump back, the bolt moves back, ejecting the spent shell and cocking the hammer.
The carrier drops down, pushing aside the stop that holds the shells in the magazine and a shell slips onto the carrier.
As you slide the pump forward, the carrier rises, moving the fresh shell into position
and allowing the magazine stop to move back into place, keeping the rest of the shells in the mag.
The bolt slides forward, chambering the round and you're in battery.
Be very careful with this gun,
There is no disconnect on the trigger, if you're holding the trigger as the you move the pump forward
when the bolt goes home the hammer will drop and the gun will discharge!
There is a "half-cock" position on the hammer that serves as a safety.
(pull the hammer halfway back, you'll feel it click into the stop)
If you have to move the gun with a shell in the chamber, put it in half-cock
There is no stop on the firing pin, if you drop this gun it will discharge.
...other then that it's one of the finest assault weapons ever made. I have one and I love it.
If you check the "Related Links" heading below you'll find a hotlink to a web page that has a pretty good breakdown of the 1897. Feel free to contact me on the "My Message Board" if you have more questions.
This will not fit a model 12
Same choke tube as a 1200 or 1400 pump
Winchester 30-30 by any manufacturer will work for you.
At this time no,there are not any available. You could have a model 1300 slug barrel redone and have the gas ports added to this barrel. Then it will work fine in your model 1400 Winchester shotgun.
Threshing Machine at Work - 1897 was released on: USA: September 1897
yes, interchangable
This Winchester model number was manufactured in 1955. This is not as old as I thought it would be. There are many websites out there that say they can help determine the date of manufacture. Most of them didn't work.
While I cannot advise you to do this,I would advise you to have a gunsmith do the work for you.
Yes.Any qualified gunsmith should be able to perform this work for you.
It depends on the year model, when Winchester starts making a weapon it can be interchangeable if the years are within range of one another! This is a big deal in Remington also, but if the it a close year then most likely it will work!
The Winchester Model 100 autoloader in .308 is compatible with magazines designed specifically for that rifle. Using magazines from other guns can lead to feeding and reliability issues, potentially compromising safety and performance. It is recommended to use the correct, factory-made magazines for the Winchester Model 100 for optimal function and safety.
Not anymore but I hear you can take a 1300 barrel and have gas ports added and that should work.
