Prior to gains made through internet marketing marketers were often forced to source their marketing research to research firms/focus groups. However, today marketers have more options-thanks in large part to internet marketing.

The internet allows you to collect much more statistical data in real time.

Before the internet you just had to guess how many people you were reaching.

With the internet, I can measure exaclty how many people responded to your ad by visiting your website, and I can measure where they came from, what city they are in, how long they stayed on your site, what pages they looked at.

Consumers are able to shop 24/7 without going to the hassle of physically entering stores. Internet marketing can advertise straight to their audience as apposed promoting through expensive ad campaigns on social media's like Twitter and Facebook.

Nowadays, Internet plays an important role in human life. People are really into it almost everyday. Through internet, we are able to interact with other people around the globe. Companies expand their business online. Compared to any usual promotion of business (flyers, commercials and etc.), promoting and doing business online is much easier. And aside from that, you have more viewers and audience online.

The Internet has allowed marketers to test their campaigns in significantly less time.

In the past a marketing campaign would be over before the marketers got the statistics of whether it was successful or not. With the Internet they can now get results while the campaign is still underway and make changes to it.

Also as the Internet has such a large number of users, marketers can target much smaller segments of the market and get statistically relevant information.

The biggest change that the internet has made is that it is now possible to quickly test if a marketing strategy is working or not.

In the old days it could take weeks or months to find out which strategy was most successful. Often the time needed was longer than the strategy would be used for.

Now different strategies can be tested in a matter of days, sometimes even hours.
