Jehovahs Witnesses have always been politically neutral and have concentrated in proclaiming the gospel, consequently they have not played a major role in the course of history in the traditional sense.
Their teachings are to remain separate from the "world" meaning although on an individual basis they attempt to be a positive influence on those they come in contact with, they do not take part in social movements designed to change the fundamental structure of the systems they live in.
Civil liberties
Jehovah's Witnesses' firm refusal to compromise their beliefs has lead to some major court descision in the United States in relation to freedom of expression and the right to freely practice ones religion; any influence this has had on the modern day legal system of that country has been purely incidental to their desire to live by what they consider to be bible law.
