They have a clearer view of exactly what family tree apes have to one another and have discovered that previous studies that are based on aesthetics in fact were incorrect. What makes all primates related to each other has very little to do with physiology and what makes primates related is much more profound. Genetic studies will give you more detail. But some genetic studies have proven that humans are more closely related to the orangutan than to the chimpanzee as was popularly believed by scientist previously.
