However, central Mexico is one of the best producing regions in the country, as it has milder climate and better soil for agriculture, in contrast to the suffocating deserts to the north and the tropical climate on the coasts.

Central Mexico includes Mexico City, as well as other important cities such as Puebla, Toluca, Cuernavaca and Pachuca. As such, the region has a population of some 37.4 million people, or almost a third of Mexico's population.
