Union General Silas Casey graduated from West Point in 1826. Among the 41 cadets that graduated that year, Casey was ranked 39th. As an aside, he graduated in the same class as Confederate General Albert Sidney Johnston. Casey saw much action during the Peninsula campaign. He was also on the board that of inquiry where Union General Porter was convicted of cowardice at the Second Battle of Bull Run.
