Dual, in Oracle, is an ordinary table, just like any other table. Do a describe on it, and look at its data with select * from dual, and you will see that it contains one column and one row.
The actual data contained in dual is meaningless. It is only used to make certain operations easy to do, such as select sysdate from dual. Note that sysdate is a reserved identifier, and it does not actually exist in dual - we are simply using the elements and limitations of SQL to obtain results about other things, such as session, user, etc. information. Another example is select 'This is a test' from dual. This can be useful when building reports within a sqlplus script.
DUAL table
A user in Oracle corresponds to a schema. Objects, such as table and indexes, must exist within a schema. Without creating a user/schema, use of the database will be limited to the built-in schemas and objects, such as the one-row DUAL table and standard PL/SQL packages.
Oracle table space is an identifier for a physical file found at the operating system level.
via sql one can remove an oracle table (if one has the appropriate privileges) using the drop table tablenamesyntax,or, if one wishes to 'empty' a table, usetruncate table tablename
In Oracle, the table gets its storage space from extents, which get their storage space from tablespaces, which get their storage from datafiles.
you right click it and you scole down to delete row in oracle table that should work
The oracle 10g and oracle 8i there is a minor difference that is oracle 8i doesn't support flash back command once we drop the table in database the message is table dropped but we can use flashback command we can retrieve the drop table once in database
select sys_context( 'userenv', 'current_schema' ) from dual;
Use SQLLoader utility of Oracle
Hello
Some of the functions for the alter table command in Oracle include renaming columns or rows, adding columns or rows and marking items as being read only.
If one is wanting to create a table in Oracle one must use the "Create Table" statement. These tables are partially defined by the columns contained and the information in the column. One must first decide the proper column type and then these data types are used in the Create Table statement. One must be somewhat familiar with Oracle in order to create these tables and additional information can be found on the DBA-Oracle website.
