Most large talc deposits formed when heated waters carrying dissolved magnesium and silica reacted with dolomitic marbles.
Baby powder is made from Talc
When vinegar reacts with limestone, the limestone will fizz and form bubbles. As the reaction continues, vinegar will dissolve the limestone. The product made is carbon dioxide.
The component of vinegar that reacts with the calcite is acetic acid. The acid reacts with calcium carbonate to produce water, carbon dioxide, and calcium acetate.
chicken
No. Talc is the softest mineral. It can't scratch anything that is harder that itself. Talc is number 1 on the Mohs scale, a scale of hardness, but diamond is number 10, which means that diamond is very much the harder of the two. You can't even scratch a diamond with a fingernail, hardness of about 2.5, so talc with even less hardness doesn't stand a chance against the mighty diamond! See Related Links below this box for more information about the hardness of talc, diamonds and other materials.
calcium
Quartz- hardness 7 on Mohs Scale. (Calcite: 3, galena 2.5, talc 1)
Yes
Gypsum
Very soft mineral
Calcite is a salt - calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
Amethyst ,Graphite, talc, calcite, corrundum, flourite, ruby, etc.
Fluorite with a Mohs hardness of 4 would be scratched by quartz (with a hardness of 7). Both calcite (Mohs hardness 3) and talc (Mohs hardness 1) are softer than fluorite.
Calcite, garnet, graphite, hematite, magnetite, mica, and talc.
Othoclase, apatite, fluorite, calcite, gypsum, and talc.
Talc won't dissolve in cold water whereas salt will. Filter out the talc, then evaporate the water.
