No. Talc is the softest mineral. It can't scratch anything that is harder that itself. Talc is number 1 on the Mohs scale, a scale of hardness, but diamond is number 10, which means that diamond is very much the harder of the two.
You can't even scratch a diamond with a fingernail, hardness of about 2.5, so talc with even less hardness doesn't stand a chance against the mighty diamond!
See Related Links below this box for more information about the hardness of talc, diamonds and other materials.
Glass cannot be scratched with talc as the latter is softer.
Yes being the softest on the Mohs scale you can scratch talc with diamond for example. (Diamond is the hardest on the Mohs scale.)
lots of metals scratch eaily including copper steel and iron :)
This is a physical change. There is nothing that changes the components of either the diamond or the glass when the diamond is used to scratch glass.
a real diamond can scratch glass and if the diamond gets scratched it's fake
I think it's either glass or minerals harder than 7 or 6 srry lol
The Mohs scale of mineral hardness characterizes the scratch resistance of various minerals through the ability of a harder material to scratch a softer material. Ithardnesses
A few minerals that do not scratch glass come to mind . . . talc, asbestos, mica, for instance.
you can scratch talc becuase it is the softest mineral on the moth scale.
you can scratch talc becuase it is the softest mineral on the moth scale.
Talc is supposed to be too fragile to cause a scratch on the majority of minerals.
According to Mohs' Hardness Scale, talc registers at a 1, whilst feldspar registers at a 6, so, no, talc cannot scratch feldspar.
yes
Talc can scratch Talc , although Talc's hardness varies it is considered a soft mineral, that can even be scratched with a finger nail. Any mineral or material with a hardness equal to or greater than 1 on the Mohs hardness scale will be able to scratch talc. Talc is the softest mineral listed on the Mohs scale, listed as a 1 on the scale which is graded from 1 through 10, with 10 being the hardest (diamond).
The most commonly known mineral that can be scratched with a fingernail is talc.
That would be Talc.
