Alrighty the epidermis, the upper or outer layer of the skin, is a tough, waterproof, protective layer. The dermis, or inner layer, is thicker than the epidermis and gives the skin its strength and elasticity.
There are 3 layers of skin:
1st - Epidermis
2nd - Dermis
3rd - Hypodermis
The difference between the Epidermis and Dermis is the Epidermis is their functions.
The Epidermis strives to: * protect the body from Sun * prevent unnecessary water loss from the system * Act as a barrier from the outside world, to prevent infection
Where as the Dermis's function is respiration. The thousands of tiny blood vessels or capillaries stop here, from where they supply the outer skin layer. The Dermis is a determining factor in a person's skin complexion also.
The Epidermis is the outermost thinnest layer in the skin. The dermis is thicker and is directly below the epidermis. The epidermis is the first layer of the skin, and the dermis is the second.
The epidermis tries to:
The dermis's work is respiration. The thousands of tiny blood vessels or capillaries stop here, from where they supply the outer skin layer. The dermis is also a determining factor in a person's skin complexion.
Also the epidermis is made up of three layers known as cornified layer, granular layer and malpighian layer, while the dermis contains nerves that enable the skin to be sensitive to changes in its environment, such as cold, pain, temperature etc...
dermis is much thicker than episdermis. dermis has more types of connective tissue cells in it.
The papillary and reticular dermis are the two layers of Dermis.
The integumentary system contains the dermis and epidermis.
Epidermis, Dermis, and Subcutaneous Tissue.
Type your answer here... the skin .. integumentary
yes, the dermis is much thicker than the epidermis
There is no structural similarity between the epidermis and the dermis. They are both a part of the integumentary system but are vastly different in structure and makeup.
The epidermis is the superficial layer of the skin. The Integumentary System (skin) consists of two main layers the epidermis and dermis. The dermis is deeper into the body (internal), thus the deep layer of the skin, not the superficial layer. epidermisNo the epidermis is. The dermis is the innermost layer. There are only 2 layers of the skin.No the epidermis is. The dermis is the innermost layer. There are only 2 layers of the skin. no,dermis is not upper layer of skin. epidermis is superficial one, dermis is below epidermis.
the dermis is located under the epidermis
The dermis contains many nerves and blood vessels, while the epidermis does not. The dermis is so close to the epidermis that even shallow cuts may hurt.
There are actually three layers of skin: the epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis.
third degree burns affect the dermis layer of skin.. 3 layers, epidermis, subcutaneous layer and dermis. dermis is the deepest. third degree burns are serious burns affecting quite a depth of superficial skin tissue.
The Papillary Layer which is a part of the Dermis
