Landdwyn Island (Ynys Llanddwyn) is located at the far end of the beach near Newborough Warren
Please note that Llanddwyn is not really an island as it remains attached to the mainland at all but the highest tides. References go back to at least 5th century AD. However, because it still forms part of the land mass means that its always been there since prehistoric times, its just that the name was not in use untill many millennia
In history St. Dwynwen whose name forms part of the title here (Llanddwyn) means "The church of St. Dwynwen". She is the Welsh patron saint of lovers, making her the Welsh equivalent of St. Valentine. Her feast day, 25 January, is often celebrated by the Welsh with cards and flowers, just as is 14 February for St. Valentine.
