Sure, but I think it would be a mess. Look at the problems we are having with health care and no one seems to agree. What do you think would happen at a convention? The idea scares me.

Other than the obvious - the Constitution itself - they all agree that none would divulge the details of the proceedings as long as any of them were still alive. James Madison's notes on the Convention were not published until around 1840.

It would be false to state that the electoral college showed that the Constitutional Convention had trust in the people. People who are critical of the electoral college claim that it is an undemocratic system.
Forty-nine states have applied for an Article V Convention (what is often called a "Constitutional Convention"), submitting more 700 applications. Article V does not permit the calling of a "constitutional convention" only a "convention for proposing amendments."
If you mean for a constitutional convention to propose amendments(s) to the Constitution, 2/3 of the state legislatures. As there are 50 states, 33 would be needed for the convention to be called.

The bigger states wanted things and the littler states wouldn't compromise because they were afraid that something would affect them.
The convention made it so that each state would hold a convention to ratify the Constitution. This meant a series of compromises and ratifications which were heavily influenced by Benjamin Franklin.
