The answer is not about how much calories you need to ingest to lose 5 pounds a week, is more likely how much weigh you will lose if you eat properly and exercice correctly. You can safely drop 2 pounds a week, but this won't happend every week. Sometimes it will be more, sometimes less (you might even gain weight once in a while).
The question you have to ask is how to reach your goal safely and permanently, not how to starve yourself and regain your weight/fat.
To that question there no magical solution, just eat reasonable portion of HEALTHY food and exercice. Otherwise, you'll just end up with a great deception and an even lower self-esteem.
Say no to diet ! Sure they work as every publicity says.. but only for 2-3 weeks...

Start with a 1800 daily calories. No Sodas, reduce the amount of carbs that you eat - that means less bread, pasta, Pizza etc. Diet 6 days a week and reward yourself with a nice meal on the 7th day. Eat low fat, low calories products. No fast food. It is NOT good for you anyways!
If you work in an office, work out 30 minutes per day. Eat food that has high fiber. Fiber will give you the energy and reduce your hunger.
Portion control is really important. Start counting calories. Eat only half of your plate and drink an additional glass of water with your meals. Drink two glasses of water AFTER you meal.

reduce calories to 1100 a day and try to get at least three hours of cardio in a week (anything that makes you sweat like runnng, walking uphill, swimming vigerously) that sort of thing can definatly help you loose weight
