On average, it takes 8-12 days for chickenpox to clear, but it can sometimes be longer or shorter than that. Shorter recovery usually happens in people previously vaccinated.

Chickenpox isn't "curable," strictly speaking. Medications can decrease symptoms in those at high risk for complications. The virus stays in your body forever.

The question "How long does it take for chicken pox to heal" is a bit like the string question (how long is a piece of string?).

If you take anti-virals (internally - eat lots of licorice! - to stop the spread of the virus, and externally - anything like essential oil of lavender - to stop the topical growth of the virus), then healing and a halt to the virus will occur within a week.

Scarring will happen if a sore has erupted untreated ... for a late treatment, topical Vitamin E oil (or Jojoba oil, which is high in Vitamin E and one of the closest oils to our own skin sebum structure) will go a long way to reducing the long-term scarring impact of Chicken Pox, as Vitamin E directly aids the growth of skin.
