On August 6 and 9, 1945, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by the first atomic bombs used in warfare. The first atomic bomb ever to be used in a military operation was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, Japan On August 6, 1945 at 8:16:02 a.m. Hiroshima time. The bomb, affectionately named "Little Boy," exploded 1,900 feet above the courtyard of Shima Hospital, with a force equivalent to 12,500 tons of TNT. By the end of 1945, 140,000 people had died as a direct result of the bombing. Within the following five years, another 60,000 would die of bomb-related causes.

The bomb killed men, women, and children indiscriminately. It killed both military personnel and civilians. Although the city produced military items and housed soldiers, it was not selected as a "purely military target" as President Truman had promised. There were six civilians in Hiroshima to every soldier.

The second bomb, called "Fat Man," exploded over Nagasaki, Japan, at 11:02 a.m. on August 9, 1945. It exploded at 1,650 feet with a force of 22,000 tons of TNT. 70,000 people lost their lives in Nagasaki by the end of 1945 due to the bombing. A total of 140,00 died within two weeks.
The estimate was: 90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki dead. That was a total. Men, women and children were not posted in separate.
There 90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki killed but the record statistics don't put them into categories.
The estimate was 90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki. The fact is that it is not divided into males, females and children.
The acute effects of the atomic bombings killed 90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000-80,000 in Nagasaki.
There were 28 pow in Hiroshima and 3 in Nagasaki.
There were around 90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki. Half of them died from radiation sickness.

Good question. Actually, little is known that twelve American prisoners of war lost their lives by the Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima. That is the number.
8 days.

Yes. About 172,000.The cities population was about 340,000 in 1945. When the atomic bomb exploded over Hiroshima the death toll came to 168,000.Note: I visited the Atomic Bomb Memorial site in Hiroshima. It is a very sobering experience of what the atomic bomb can do. There is hardly anything left standing in the city at the epicenter of the explosion. People were completely vaporized. Many people died in the explosion, but 10,000's more died afterward because of radiation caused infections.
About 80,000 were killed instantly and many thousands more died later as a result of radiation poisoning.
