In 1TB you can hold.

DivX (cca 700MB) about 1400

DVD (cca 4.3GB) about 230

BluRay (25 or 50GB (dl) about 40 or 20...

It's for 1TB, but you should note that 1TB hard disk drive is 1000000000000 bytes, but one kB is 1024, one MB is 1024kB, one GB is 1024 MB, and finally one TB is 1024GB...so, when you see the Properties of the hard drive you always see that the capacity is smaller than it's written on the hard drive's box... That's the reason... If you buy 1TB, You'll actually get

1000000000000 / 1024 / 1024 / 1024 / 1024 = 0.909 TB

It depends on whether or not the movies are compressed, and in what format, also on how you define "HD"

HD is generally accepted as 720p or 1080p, or higher. If the movie is simply copied from a Blu-Ray DVD (that can hold up to 50Gb for a two-layer commercial disk), you could fit 20 movies (or maybe more) on a 1Tb drive. But if the movies are encoded in a compressed format with the "extras" removed, the capacity goes up dramatically.

A 2-hour movie encoded in MKV format at 1080p would run around 10Gb, giving you about 100 movies in a 1Tb disk. Compressed in AVI format (Xvid), the same movie would need about 2Gb, for 500 movies on a 1Tb disk.
