As a rule, your propane tank will hold 80% of its designated capacity, therefore, a 500 gallon tank would hold 400 gallons.
However, the 80% rule is based on expansion and contraction due to temperature. Propane expands in warmer weather.
In cold temperatures you can fill to over 90% capacity (450+ gallons) but you should plan on using a portion of that propane before the weather turns warm or pressure could build as temperatures rise, thereby opening the pressure relief valve and releasing gaseous gold into the atmosphere! The hazard could be worse than the expense.
Note: Some tanks are rated in pounds vs gallons. A 100 pound tank would hold just under 25 gallons.
The tank will weigh about 900 pounds and if full, the 400 gallons of propane will weight about 1680 pounds. 2580 total. Tanks are only filled to about 80% with liquid propane, the other 20% will be filled with propane gas.
500 US gallons of liquid propane is about 1,892.7 liters.

One gallon of propane weighs 5 pounds. The tank would hold 60 gallons.
100 gallons? Are you kidding me. Who asked this question. You need not be dealing with propane. Believe it or not, there are 1000 US Gallons in a 1000 "Gallon" propane tank. Some peoples kids.

Type your answer here... there are around 91,600 BTUs in a gallon of propane. The standard BBQ sized bottle of propane contains 11 pounds of propane. Propane weighs about 4.2 pounds per gallon, so that 11 pounds of propane is about 2.5 gallons in its liquid state. That means there is 91,600 BTUs/Gal times 2.5 gallons so a BBQ sized tank of propane contains about 2.3 million BTUs. If your BBQ has a 50,000 BTU burner, on high heat, it will last a bit over 4 and half hours of run time.
It should be around 25 gallons or around 121.95 pounds of propane
100 pound propane tank will hold 23.58 gallon. 100 pounds / 4.24 pounds per gallon = 23.58 gallons
30. You just said it's a 30 gallon tank.
Mine holds 127 gallons of propane when filled up to the 80% make, the fullest they can get.
7.1 gallons @ 4.2lbs per gallon.
8 gallons are in a 33 1/2 lb tank. Now is that the space in a 33 pound can or is that the amount of fuel in a 33 pound can? These cans can only be filled by law to 80% to allow for expansion If that is the case, 80% of 8 gallons is 6.4 Gallons. Now how many gallons are in a 33 pound can of propane?
One gallon of propane weighs 5 pounds. The tank would hold 60 gallons.
