Oh boy! How many hours does any profession work? You work as long as it takes to get your job done. In accounting firms, it's not uncommon for performance to be assessed based on the (a) quality of your work and (b) the amount of overtime you work. The more overtime worked, the better.!
So typically you would work say from 8:30am until 5pm, with an hour break for lunch (or around those times, depending on your workplace), so this is around ~7.5 hours a day.
Lets do the maths:
7.5 * 5 = 37.5 hours/week.
So you would typically work roughly a 40 hour week. It's not uncommon to skip lunch breaks, stay back late.. So you may well work more hours than this in a week, depending on the urgency of your work load!
