As many as you want. The great thing about a real estate agent is that you pick your hours. You can work part time for a side income or full time. If you work for an agency, they may suggest a 40 hour week. Quite the oposite. As a real estate agent, your CLIENTS set your hours. You may work for a broker who insists that you be in the office or out showing a listing 9 to 5, but if someone calls at 4:59, you'll drive 30 minutes across town to show them a house. And if your phone rings on Saturday, you'll go to work. On Sunday afternoons you'll be hosting two or three open houses. If you don't, you'll miss sales and someone else will get the commissions.

Does becoming a real estate agent involves collage? No. But it does involve a serious class that will run between $600 and $2,000 and requires many hours of study. There are DVD classes as well. Then you take an exam, and in most states you'll need a broker to "sponser" you in order to qualify.BTW, it's spelled "college".
