A good mechanic with a vehicle lift and transmission hoist, etc that has done it a few times will take about 8 hours. The home mechanic, all weekend. The engine and transmission come out the bottom together in a cradle/frame, then you can separate them. The van has to be lifted high enough (3+ feet) to get the engine out the bottom.
