It depends on the chipset that the mb has (and possibly more). I suggest looking at the mb manufacturers website and checking the processor support. I know from experience that a 478 533 Celeron D doesn't work in a 845 chipset mb that supports P4 3.06+ 478 533FSB (and nor does a P4 3G 478 800FSB work in the 845 mb).
