Not entirely sure what you mean. An octave consists of a tone, and a second tone with a frequency two times the first tone (disregarding the need for octave stretching). On instruments like the violin and Trombone, tones of any frequency within the octave can be produced. On a piano, octaves contain 13 keys (12 half-steps) including the octave notes themselves. An octave can also be considered 8 tones of the diatonic scale including the octave notes themselves. Bars, sections of a piece of music organized by time elements, operate independently from octaves.

There are zero beats in an octave; make them as smoothe as humanly possible. When you get into the registers that call for stretching, you are no longer tuning octaves smoothe; but on the other hand if you do it right, the beating will not be detectable.

_____________

Footnote: Fourths and fifths, customarily called perfect intervals, are not smoothe; no interval is except the octave. Fourths are tuned outside of smoothe (the upper note is tuned up, or the lower note is tuned down) and fifths are tuned inside of smoothe (the upper note is tuned down, or the lower note is tuned up).

An octave is the difference in pitch between the first note and the 8th note in a scale. I am not sure what you mean by "bars".
