Whether USA or worldwide, it would be impossible to give an exact number. Plus, would the statistic be 'how many go daily', 'weekly', or what. Even if you specified how often, it would be easier to look at statistics for people who do NOT visit a brick and mortar (e.g. physical location of a) store. But even then, you would need to hypothesize about what percent of people do not go to a store. Some groups who might not ever or might rarely go to a store include:
- persons who do not like to shop, for any reason
- persons who have agoraphobia, fear of being out in public
- persons with a family member who does all the shopping, for example some men do not shop ever
- celebrities who hire someone else to shop
- persons permanently living in a nursing home
- persons living in their own homes, but too ill or disabled to go out
- persons who do not have any money
- some persons with mental illness might never go into a store
- some persons who are homeless might never go into a store
- some people shop only online, even for groceries
Since worldwide statistics are often not kept for different types of information, as you can see it would be difficult to give a percent or stat to address all these groups.
