Yes, at least one answerthon happens every year. Some years, there might be multiple answerthons. They might also have a twist. For example, last year there was the "how-to" answer thon.

No, WikiAnswers isn't a educational site. But, it kind of is. It provides information on questions where contributors just like you and me answer with our best knowledge. Last year, there was a 1,000 award given out for a smart user on WikiAnswers to go to college.
The questions are listed in chronological order - if you want to answer the oldest questions - simply scroll through the pages until you get to the last one. Be warned though - in some of the categories there are hundreds of unanswered questions !
