There are some requirements to be eligible to participate in the Answerthon. A main requirement is the minimum age of 13 years old.

Yes, at least one answerthon happens every year. Some years, there might be multiple answerthons. They might also have a twist. For example, last year there was the "how-to" answer thon.

The timezone for the competition was Midnight Friday October 23/24 12:00 AM to Midnight Sunday 25/26 12:00 AM - 48 hours as per Eastern Standard Time.

The next AnswerThon - April 25-26 2009 - has the following official start and end times:
Saturday, April 25th: starting at midnight, 12:00 am, Eastern Standard Time, (which is actually late Friday night in EST).
Sunday, April 26th: ending at 11:59 pm, Eastern Standard Time, (right before midnight of the 27th in EST).

How many sentences does an answer need to have for the AnswerThon?
It must have at least two full, complete sentences. Sentences of three words or less are not "sentences". Sentences that are meaningless filler (which is generally discouraged anyway) like "good luck" or "hope this helps" will not be counted (even if they're more than three words, unlike the two examples given).
