20,000 songs

20,000? Only if all your songs are at a really low bit-rate.

I've an 80gb iPod, and because my tunes are at 192kbps or above (quite a few at 256 or even 320) I can get roughly 8,000 on it.

Not 20,000 is it...

It mostly depends on how much space the song use.

It also depends on the iPod you are talking about, since 8gb varies from iPod to iPod. An iPod Nano 8gb can hold 2,000 songs, but an iPod Touch 8gb can only hold 1,750 songs (these are estimates made by Apple.com).

most of the songs are 4, 5 or 6 MB in size, taking 5 MB as an average, around 12000 songs can be stored on a 60 GB ipod.
