Answerthon is a contest where participants are challenged on a 24 hour answering spree. The most recent one took place between April 20,2013 and ended on April 21, 2013. There are no newly scheduled answerthons at this time.
The AnswerThon winners are determined purely by numbers - the registered users who answer the most questions in a 48 hour period win the Answerthon prizes (answers must comply with contest guidelines). After the Answers Community staff members review the answers contributed by AnswerThon registrants, the winners are announced.
Many users enjoy the process of spreading their knowledge on Answers. After finding categories that they are passionate and/or knowledgeable about, many users find themselves answering questions, re-categorizing, editing, etc. without even realizing how much they're contributing. For example, if you have a favorite movie, book series, sport, travel destination, hobby, etc., there's most likely a category with thousands of questions just waiting to be answered! Or if you're an expert in your field - photography, legal matters, chemistry, etc. - there's a category for that as well! Click on "Q&A categories" on the top bar and check out our thousands of categories. Also, we host AnswerThons a couple of times per year, where users compete to answer as many questions as they can in 48 hours. For more information, check out the AnswerThon home page!
