In North America the common voltage for microwave ovens is 120 volts.

However, what you may really want to know is how many watts does it draw? (One doesn't "draw volts" - the voltage is fixed by the source of electricity: 110 - 120 volts from the wall recepticle in your house; 1 1/2 volts for a AA battery, etc.) However, appliances do "draw" wattage - that depends upon the appliance and how efficiently it operates. (watts = volts x amps (current). Most microwave ovens are about 50% efficient, so an 800 watt (output) microwave oven draws about 1600 watts of electricity.

Microwaves generally run on the 115 volts AC that runs other appliances, like, say, a fridge. They plug into the wall. In other countries, mains voltage may be different.

Microwave IS used in RADAR.

What does a transformer in a microwave oven do?

It outputs high voltage so that the magnetron (which is recieving the 2000v the Microwave transformer produces) can emit microwaves and it will cook the food but if fed lower voltage it is like a lower wattage it will cook slower

How was the microwave used when originally invented?

The Microwave was used to cook food.

Does the radiation from a microwave affect a television if the television is placed on top of the microwave?

It could, althought it may just be from the high-voltage power supply working correctly.

How many amps does a microwave use?

A typical microwave rated at 1100 watts uses 10 amps of power. This is calculated by dividing the number of watts by the voltage of 110.

What is the line voltage given the load voltage is 2000v and voltage regulation is 2 percent?

The line voltage in the usa is 120V if the 2000V is for a tube in a microwave oven it generally depends on a transformer and rectifier so the line voltage will go down about 2% to retain the output
