A low of $15,000 To a High of $100,000.00 year.

Believe it or not, some baggage handlers make more money than certain Pilots.

Regional Jet pilots earn $25-$35k a year. while salaries for baggage handlers working directly for Airlines -not private vendor services firms whom some Airline contract out- earn $53,000. a yr at Southwest and $46,000 yr at Delta.

Airline employees start at a rate of $10-$12 hr but they get pay raises every few months...after 5 yrs on the job at Southwest, Ground Baggage crew workers earn $53k straight time and average $39 hr on over-time. $52. hour for coming in too work a 7th day in a row. Delta is no. 2 in terms of pay. starting at $10.65 hr. workers get raises every 6 mos. and top out at $22.+ hr straight time and $33 hr for over-time.

A well kept secret, Airline have so many delays' weather' mechanical, crew time out delays...it creates opportunities for UNLIMITED overtime options.

Also because Employees all do the same job...Airlines need a body' and it doesn't matter which worker it is- therefore Airlines allow "shift swaps" which means you can give away your shift to a co worker who needs extra money.

The Employee who pick up "shift trades" end up working his/her own scheduled 40 hr week + and gets paid for an extra 20-30 or 40 hrs he worked.

Delta top baggage handlers in Vegas Airport made $80k+ workers who put in less time (many have other careers) or gave away their shifts earned as little as $14,000. At Southwest ground workers with lots of OT made $100k for 2010.

In addition there's No Limit free flights for the Employee+his/her Spouse or Domestic partner +her/his Parents+in laws+ all Dependent children under 21. You may take those free flight on your own employer or other Airlines. Delta workers fly free on 8 different carriers and they get 90% off on 60 others as well as avail hotel, cruise and car rent discounts up to 90%.

Fedex offers Airline workers 75% off shipping anything anywhere. AT&T and Sprint Mobile offer Airline workers free Phone upgrades with or WITHOUT a contract. Bed bath and Beyond, Target, AMC and Regal Theaters let Airline workers buy movie tickets for $4 flat rate and over 400 other businesses who use Airlines for business purposes or shipping will extend -as a courtesy- Airline employee discounts on their goods and services.

Plus Medical, Dental ,Life ,Legal insurance plans and 401k...Delta gives ALL employees a 401k whether the worker wants it or not. if the worker puts money into the 401k Delta will match it. if worker does NOT put anything in -0-then Delta will put in $30 per pay period regardless. THAT MONEY is for the worker whether he wants it or not! Southwest has a pension for employees in addition to a 401k.
