  • In central PA, LPN's make about $20/hour on average. Office jobs with great hours and benefits generally pay less ($17-18/hr), and nursing homes more ($20+) with additional money ($2-3/hr extra) in shift differentials for 2nd or 3rd shift (cost of benefits can be higher, though). Agency nurses still make the most with hourly rates in the $25-30/hr range. Agencies generally pay no benefits and do not guarantee hours. Pay for home care cases can fall anywhere within the range depending on the difficulty of the case. Yearly earnings are about $35,000 and up, depending on the hours you work and what you are willing to do. There is generally overtime available in nursing homes and they often offer bonuses as well.
  • I am not sure of the answer. In NY state and rn just starting makes $20.00 plus dollars an hour. The LPN makes less. It also depends on the place where we work. Doctors offices pay less but have the benefits of Holidays off and weekends off.
  • If an LPN receives experience in I.V. Therapy and works for an agency who places them in nursing homes and hospitals that are short of staff, they can make 25-40 an hour. you can work your own hours..Down side is that you never know your patients completely...and there usually are no benefits and if you get benefits.....they are so expensive that you might as well be a staff nurse for less money but with great benefits. If you are someone who does not need benefits and would like to make your own schedule and make alot of money...than be an LPN who works for an agency.
