It depends on the contributors. It's safe to say top contributors are on the site daily, perhaps an hour or two a day or more.
Feel free to message top contributors on their message boards, asking how much time they spend on the site. One thing's for sure, we are so thankful for their hard work in answering, editing and cleaning up the site!
I don't know if you would count me among the 'top contributors', and pardon me if I'm being presumptuous. When I first joined I was on daily or very nearly so, for perhaps 2 hours or more at a time. Now I may go several days at a time without logging in, basically because of time restrictions. Once you get a base of several contributions, trust points trickle in even if you are not actively contributing every day.
The WikiAnswers contributors know so much because they learned that much in school and from WikiAnswers.
No. WikiAnswers does not know all the answers. The WikiAnswers website only knows as much as the contributors that give the answers and the contributors only know so much since, as humans beings, we all still have questions about many different things that we can't find the answer to.But that doesn't mean the contributors on WikiAnswers don't have a great amount of knowledge to be shared.
WikiAnswers has so much information because the people who contribute to WikiAnswers know a lot, and the more contributors know, the more information WikiAnswers will have.
Premier Answerers are dedicated Answers.com contributors who spend much of their time researching and answering questions. Typically, they are experts in a particular field or topic and possess the knowledge to answer complex or detailed questions.
I do not use Answerbag in addition to WikiAnswers. Answerbag is much like Yahoo! Answers, and has the same quality flaws as Yahoo! Answers. The answers are as-is, while WikiAnswers has an answer being worked on by hundreds of contributors until the answer is perfect.
because you spend too much time on wikianswers and not enough time listening.
They spend about $1000000.00 every week
Pretty much anyone would take the time to improve WikiAnswers, such as yourself, because merely asking a question is spending time to improve WikiAnswers. Everyone you see on WikiAnswers spends their time improving WikiAnswers - otherwise they wouldn't be here.
Many people dislike the media. There is probably no particular reason to think participants on this site feel much different than the general population.
Yes, WikiAnswers volunteer contributors answer tens of thousands of questions every day. Questions that are placed in the appropriate categories and phrased with proper grammar, spelling and detail are much more likely to be answered than those without. Placing questions in the proper categories ensures that contributors who are knowledgeable about the subjects of the questions are able to easily find them. Some contributors to WikiAnswers may not answer questions which are obviously copied from an exam paper or look like a homework question as quickly as a real personal question from someone who is just seeking information about a subject or help with doing a job. Users contribute to WikiAnswers because they have an interest and oftentimes expertise in the subject matter of the questions and enjoy sharing their relevant knowledge with a worldwide audience.
YOU are the editor! WikiAnswers is a cooperative initiative allowing everyone to contribute to the answer. Contributors have the ability to reorganize, edit answers and questions as well as flag and report abuse. The Help Center in the menu can provide lots of information on the rules and acceptable practices. The Supervisors help monitor the site and do what they can for editing, though spend much of their time attempting to eliminate as much spam and nonsense as they can.
Hard to give a definitive figure, but I personally spend about 90 minutes a day on here - usually combined with other computer tasks.
