Its usually about 12 Hours 25 Minutes give or take. But that is not set in stone various things like the shape of the waterway, obstructions, drag caused by Coastlines etc. all affect the timing of the tides. Because it is longer than twelve hours per tide there are days where there is only 1 High tide

However there are also some places that have Double Tides or 4 high tides each day. This is often because they have more than one tidal water source feeding them. There are also some places that always have a single tide each day. I haven't worked that one out yet.

What is the Contrast between a spring tides and neap tides?

Perigee tides involve the Moon's orbit around the Earth. It does not go in a perfect circle but rather in an ellipse/oval shaped revolution. Because of that there are some points in the Moon's orbit at which the Moon is closer to the Earth. "Perigee" is the point of closest approach. With that closeness it causes a greater gravitational attraction between Earth and the Moon, pulling more water towards the Moon, causing what we know as high and low tides. "Spring tides" can occur during a perigee tide but not necessarily. A spring tide is a tide that occurs when the Sun, Earth and the Moon are nearly in a straight line, at a NEW MOON, or at a Full Moon. The highest tides happen then.

How does the sun and moon produce the regular rising and falling of tides on earth?

Moon: The moon causes the tides because of the moon's gravity. Tides are caused mainly by differences in how much the moon's gravity pulls on different parts of Earth.-Sorry I don't know how the sun causes the tides....-

Spring tides occur when the sun moon and earth?

Spring tides (which are a little higher than average) occur when the Sun, Moon and Earth are pretty much lined up; at the new moon and the full moon. Lower-than-average "neap" tides happen at the 1st and 3rd quarter moon phases.

How much time would elapse between a soldier's capture and a telegram to next of kin?

I don't know if there was a standard time, particularly for units that may not have much contact with their headquarters. I recently read the experience of a pilot shot down over France and it was very important to him that he return to his unit within 10 days because he knew the telegram would be sent to his wife if he was still unaccounted for after that. He made it.

Assume there was no moon Approximately when would you expect to observe high tides at the equator?

Assuming there would be no Moon, tides would only be caused by the Sun. Therefore, we would have high tides at noon and ad midnight - but those would be much less pronounced than the tides we have now.Assuming there would be no Moon, tides would only be caused by the Sun. Why do you have high and low tides at the beach?

Due to the gravitational pull on the earth from the moon and the sun. The moon pulls the water from the earth towards it and so does the sun. Low tides are called Neap tides and are low because the pull from the sun and the moon cancel each other out (it would be much easier to explain using a diagram) High tides are spring tides and are high because the sun and the moon are alligned, creating a strong force.
