It depends on how big it is and what type it is. We had a mobile (can be driven over the road) crane here last year that could pick up 500 tons. I hear they build mobile cranes that can lift as much as 750 tons. Stationary cranes can lift a lot more, but are harder to move.

The counter-weight serves to balance the crane when it's lifting anything. If there was no counter-weight, the crane would topple over !
2 pounds at most... teehee
When a crane caries an object, and that it floats in the air. In order to counter that force to lift the object, a counter weight is found at the back of the crane. thus when the crane is not moving, anti-clockwise force = clockwise force.
The average weight a truck cane can carry depends on the individual crane, the type of crane and the load. The average weight a truck crane is 13000 pounds.
The bird that can carry the most weight is the crane because of its expansive space.
They can carry their own weight
11 lbs. (pounds)
The maximum load that the crane can lift is 18 metric tons (39,690 pounds), but the crane cannot lift that much weight if the load is positioned at the end of the jib. The closer the load is positioned to the mast (center of rotation), the more weight the crane can lift safely.

The amount of weight a person can carry will depend upon the person. The stronger the person is, the more weight that they will be able to carry.
