∙ 16y agoThis depends on what type of pain medication you are using. Hydrocodone 5/500 mg can be taken every four to six hours. Duragesic patch is changed every 72 hours. Oxycontin is normally prescribed every six to eight hours. Please, please read the instructions on your medication bottle. With some medications, if taken too close together, an overdose or unwanted side effects can occur.
