There is no wat to tell by looking at the manual since it does not have the printing date on it anywhere I found. If you find the engine numbers that begin with 143(sometimes obscurred by the electric starter control) then there will be a set of four digits and a letter of the alphabet. The first digit is the last digit of the year of manufacture and the next three are the numeric day of the year.
If you want the manusl, look for the link a bit below to the SearsPartsDirect page where ther will be the word Download in about the center of the page that you can click to get it.
