Its easy, grab the front part of the seat cushion, pull it straight up, there are two clips, one on each side, that will unclip without breaking, when you pull up. Then there is one loop at the back of the cushion that must be pulled forward and slightly up, this part can be a bit challenging, but with enough force it will slide off. It may help to squeeze your hand back to the loop and pull from there, if your rear seats fold down, that can also help.
Getting it back on is easier than removal.
Once the seat is removed, you will have access to the fuel tank (from above) where the fuel pump and filter are located. If you are changing the filter and pump, be extra careful to install all rubber o-rings or the job will fail. The shop manual says you should replace them, so that is recommended, but you can carefully remove them from the old and reuse if you do not have replacements.
The type of the rear seat of the Toyota Corolla will determine how you will remove it. For instance, for a folding seat, all that you will need to do is to lower the seat to gain access.

To remove the back seat cushion of a Toyota Echo (any year) simply grasp the seat between the cushion and body of the car and give it a good hard pull straight up. You will have to do this once on each side then again for the middle back of the cushion.
