Start with your daughter... she is your best source of information, about her favourite colours, themes, hobbies, etc.
Then use your imagination and a bit of common sense... It is not necessary to create an entire room that is a "princess" theme. Although this could be great fun, for both you and your daughter, it will have a definite shelf life.
It is better by far to work in basic (Please note I said basic, not primary) colours and styles. Then add accessories and decorative touches throughout the room. When she out-grows the current trend, you only have to replace a small number of things as apposed to having to lay out the money for a complete re-do of the room.
Do remember, when purchasing furnishings, (bed, dresser, desk etc) to buy the best you can afford in a classic style that will last through many of her phases and with luck, can move with her when the time comes for her to move out on her own.
either decorate it or if you dont want it that color paint over it. ok?????
Light blue, light pink, brown.

To decorate a bedroom door like a hotel suite door you would need to add some creativity. You can use a particular hotel as the reference or you can just choose to use your imagination.
you can put up a funky colour, by a teenage bed (argos) and put all your nice stuff on display
You should write daughter's if you are talking about one daughter, e.g. "it is my daughter's birthday tomorrow".You should write daughters' if you are talking about more than one daughter at the same time, e.g. "this is our daughters' bedroom, which they share".
It totally depends on the child, but you have to make sure that however you decorate they will like when they get older too. Therefore, simple wall color and carpet are best, and then removable accessories that make the room fun can relate to your nine year-old.
If you are a kid, you can make a sign for your bedroom door that says Santa's workshop elves only
