The 'flu shot' - is not a treatment - it's a inoculation. It's designed to 'kick-start' a person's immune system just in case they contract the flu virus. It's not designed to treat the flu once the patient already has it. You're supposed to get inoculated at a time before the flu 'season' starts - so your body's immune system is 'primed'.

∙ 13y agoYou can get a flu shot any time, even with a cold, as long as you haven't had a high fever in the past 48 hours. However, it isn't a good idea to go out into public when you have an active infection, so if you can wait until after you feel better, it will help prevent your spreading the cold to others.
