The primary musical texture was homophonic - one melody, with accompaniment. Although many classical composers wrote some polyphonic music (Mozart, for example, wrote some fugues), this is not a style primarily associated with Classical Music.

Rhythms were usually unvaried within a movement, and the most common times were 4/4, 3/4, and 6/8, with other duple and triple meter variations. There was almost no experimentation with "odd" time signatures (like 5/8) and in general the classical period is not strongly associated with extensive rhythmic experimentation.
