Best Answer

Pretty much the same way most bikes are built. Thin-walled steel pipes are cut to length and mitered, and the joined together by welding or brazing. Rims are made by either steel strips or alloy extrusions rolled into hoops and joined together, then laced to hubs. Cranks are usually forged.

What are the origins of BMX?

The true origin of BMX was nothing more than kids on bicycles, typically Schwinn Stingrays, mimicing their motorcross heroes on small dirt dunes. But in 1973, Yamaha made a bicycle specifically for that purpose. It was called the Yamaha Moto-Bike. In 1974, BMX was sanctioned into it's own type of sport with the creation of the "National Bicycle League". This same year saw the first bicycle frame made specifically for BMX: The Redline Squareback.
