Yes, my wife missed a period and called to the doctors, the doctor told her she was 4 month pregnant or having twins and sent her for a scan. it turned out she was 4 months pregnant even though she was having regular periods for the first 3 months.
Perform another pregnancy test
If you know for sure that you are pregnant, it is probably not going to be your period, although some women have experienced a "first" period then learns a couple of weeks later that they really are pregnant. It is possible that it could be implantation bleeding caused by the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterine wall. Or it could be a cervical change that can cause vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding can also be a symptom of ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. Another cause for bleeding during pregnancy is a miscarriage although the first two reasons for bleeding are more common, it is still a good idea to contact your doctor if you are too concerned. On rare occasions you can encounter a false positive due to improper testing, expired pregnancy tests, rare medical conditions such as certain types of cancer, evaporation lines, a recent pregnancy or a chemical pregnancy.

It is possible, but the bleeding could also have been from implantation bleeding. A pregnancy test will show positive for a while after a miscarriage because your body has not rid itself of the HCG (pregnancy hormone) levels yet. The further along you were, the longer a pregnancy test will show positive. I would still be on the lookout for any symptoms of pregnancy, continue taking your prenatal vitamins (or at least folic acid), refrain from alcohol and tobacco and caffeine then in a couple weeks take another test and see. Or you can go to the doctor to either confirm pregnancy or miscarriage.
The same thing happened to me....Im so upset! I'm going to schedule me an appointment for a blood test. I took another test today after bleeding for three days and still had a light positive line so maybe just maybe I will be lucky enough to still be pregnant! Before the bleeding I had 3 positive test. Good luck to you!
My understanding is that even if you test has a faint positive that it is positive. Good luck and take another test.
When you started bleeding.... was this the normal time for your period to start? Was it light spotting and is that what made you think about taking the pregnancy test? Without knowing these answers, it's kinda hard to say. However, if you took a home pregnancy test and the results were positive, there is an extremely great chance of being pregnant. Usually with those tests, they say that a negative result is what is more likely to be wrong than a positive one. However, it could also be that you were pregnant and still have high enough levels in your urine to make the pregnancy test positive. Your best bet is to see a doctor to be sure... one way or another, that's the best way to know for sure. Good luck!

Home pregnancy tests work by the detection of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in a the test subjects urine. If you test positive from a pregnancy test you are most likely pregnant (they are over 97% accurate). However, there is a low false positive rate and that could be the case in this instance. If it has been more than 14 days since you had the sexual intercourse that you want to see made you pregnant then simply take another test, or see your doctor for a blood test. In the event the second test shows you are not pregnant you could have simply not been pregnant and had a false positive, or miscarried a very early pregnancy. If you are trying to get pregnant, miscarriage of a pregnancy isn't uncommon, and while it is discouraging it does not mean you will continue to have problems getting and staying pregnant. Talk about this with your physician, if you are worried or concerned about it. If you are not wanting to be pregnant and you don't know what to do to prevent an unwanted pregnancy your health professional can advise you on that as well.
It means you had a miscarriage.
