Lincoln might have had diffeences with Congressional leaders, but would never have let himself get into the isolated position that his successor, Andrew Johnson, was to do. Radical Reconstruction as we know it would seem unlikely to happen.
No one knows for sure what would have happened, but the Republicans would certainly continue to dominate for the next 10 years. He might have served three terms, and Reconstruction could have been drastically different. However, this is all speculation. His secretary of war would have played a bigger role in Reconstruction, and the South might not have gotten away so easily.

Someone else would have followed Buchanan as president. All of the reasons for the Civil War would still exist. Perhaps whoever would have been elected in 1860 would have made another compromise that would have lasted another couple of years. Still, the war would have happened and the slaves would have been freed. It surely would have taken several more years to get done.
